The Arts and Crafts Christmas Market on Mexikoplatz is a long-running Berlin institution with over 30 years of history, held on the four Advent Sundays in the Zehlendorf locality of Steglitz-Zehlendorf district. Set on the elegant Art Nouveau square directly in front of the listed Mexikoplatz S-Bahn station, it is known locally as the "Artist Station" (Künstlergasse). What sets it apart is its strict curation: over 90 selected small studios and artist workshops show exclusively handmade work, all exhibitors are present in person at their stalls, and no commercial or imported goods are permitted. The market is deliberately compact and unhurried, and can comfortably be explored in an afternoon. Visitors will find designer jewellery, ceramics, woodwork, metalwork, textiles, illustrated books, and handmade Christmas cards, and can even have their portrait painted on-site. Food on offer includes homemade mulled wine, Käsespätzle, and waffles, with surrounding cafés and restaurants also serving Glühwein. The market is directly served by S-Bahn line S1 (Mexikoplatz station) and buses 622 and 118; public transport is strongly recommended as parking nearby is very limited.
