Christmas at the Tierpark (Weihnachten im Tierpark) is a festive evening event held in the grounds of Tierpark Berlin in the Friedrichsfelde neighbourhood of Lichtenberg district. Rather than a traditional bustling Christmas market, it offers a deliberately calm and idyllic two-kilometre illuminated circular walking trail through the park, centred on the historic Schloss Friedrichsfelde. Over 30 artistically staged light installations — including illuminated animal figures made from tiny LEDs — line the route, alongside interactive light installations with soundscapes and a poetic fire garden. Highlights include ice-skating on a 320-square-metre rink in front of the illuminated palace (included in admission), a Christmas puzzle rally for children, a nostalgic analogue photo booth, and warming up by crackling fire rings. Food and drink stalls along the route offer mulled wine, punch, hot chocolate, Bratwurst, and sweet snacks. The event takes place after the zoo's regular daytime hours and runs rain or shine; dogs are not permitted. The nearest stop is Tierpark, served by U5, Bus 296 and N50, and Trams 21, 27, 37, and M17.
