Location: Gendarmenmarkt, 10117 Berlin, Germany
The Christmas Market on Gendarmenmarkt (WeihnachtsZauber) is one of Berlin's most popular and upscale Christmas markets, held in the Mitte district on the historic Gendarmenmarkt square, flanked by the German Cathedral, the French Cathedral, and the Konzerthaus. Running for over 20 years and drawing around 800,000 visitors per season, it is known for its sophisticated white tent city and luxurious ambience. A portion of admission fees is donated to cultural and social institutions in Berlin. Prices are noticeably higher than at other Berlin markets. The market features over 150 exhibitors, including a large arts and crafts tent where wood carvers, glass blowers, goldsmiths, and candle makers demonstrate their skills. Food highlights include Käsespätzle, Swiss cheese fondue, Kaiserschmarrn, Sauerbraten, mulled wine, and roasted chestnuts, with heated restaurant tents on site. Daily stage performances feature musicians, acrobats, choirs, and fire performers in front of the Konzerthaus. The nearest U-Bahn stop is Hausvogteiplatz (U2, 0.2 km), with Stadtmitte (U6) and Unter den Linden (U5/U6) also close by.
