Dates: December 11 – 13, 2026
Location: Alt-Köpenick 1, 12557 Berlin, Germany
The Köpenick Christmas Island (Köpenick, die Weihnachtsinsel) is a community-oriented Christmas market set on the historic Schlossinsel and Schlossplatz in Köpenick's baroque old town, in the Treptow-Köpenick borough of south-east Berlin. Held on the third Advent weekend each year, it is considered one of Berlin's most atmospheric markets, with the festively illuminated baroque Schloss Köpenick as its backdrop, between the Dahme and Spree rivers. Local non-profit organisations and independent traders run the stalls, giving the event a distinctly neighbourhood character. On the palace island, stalls offer traditional handicrafts, ceramics, candles, honey, Christmas ornaments, and table decorations, while Schlossplatz serves up mulled wine, punch, bratwurst, gingerbread, roasted almonds, and regional Stollen. Highlights include a traditional Stollen-cutting ceremony to open the market, tower brass music (Turmblasen) played from the Schloss balcony each evening, live music, choirs, a children's carousel, craft activities for children, and an organ concert in the Schlosskirche. Trams 27, 61, 62, 63, 67, and 68 and several bus lines stop at Schloßplatz Köpenick, and the S3 S-Bahn runs to S Köpenick.
